Hi all, I'm kind of a new, old fish keeper! I used to have several tanks but had to rehome them all when i moved house due to space! As expected, i've finally given in to the urge to get more fish!

Eventually I'm gunna buy new, smaller sofas just so I can fit a decent sized tank in my living room lol! But don't have the pennies atm so my aunty is kindly giving me a tank she has in her shed.

Now my problem being that its hexagonal.. obvioulsy I need to buy an appropriate filter, but she doesn't know how much water it holds, so is there a way to work it out as simply as you would a rectangle tank? Or do I need to fill it litre by litre and count!?

One way to do it is:

(if all sides are the same length)
Hexagon contains 6 traingles.

Area of triangle is 1/2 base x height

muliply triangle area by 6 to get surface area of hexagon

muliply surface area by height to get volume.

Ahh thank you, knew I should have listened in maths at school! lol I'll just hope the sides are all the same, Ive not collected it yet.
