I have the usually syphon vac, and when using on my sand bed, it seem sto suck up all of the sand, yet leave most of the fish waste and debris behind!

Seems that the waste is too heavy, so it takes the sand instaed! the waster just spins around in the vac then drops out! Doesnt ahve neogh pull to get it out of the vac chamber and up the hose into bucket?

Any ideas, as my tank dirtyness is starting to really annoy me!

Don't put the gravel vac near the sand try it higher up or it will just suck the sand up.

No matter were i put it, it doesnt seem powerful enough to suck up the fish-poop!

Never had sand but i think you tilt the vac to an angle slightly above the sand.

If you keep it about 1-2cm above the sand and either do small circlecular movements with it or like I do move it back and forward, it stirs the gunk up and then evntually it all goes up. with minimal sand.

(I only do about 1/5th of my tank because the rest is planted and the plants will use the poop)

if you have one of those vacs with the wider plastic tubes that fit on the end try taking it off and just use the thin tube. you will get a lot more suction thats what i do.
