ive been having a bit of trouble catching my betta so i can fully change his water. the first time i used a cup and it was easy to catch him but now hes remembered it and at the site of it he goes way down where i cant reach him and darts all around. ive tried the net but he got trapped in it, so i hate to use it...
if anyone has any tricks or tips on a easy way to catch them id love to hear, thanks

I use a net but a lot of times I end up using my hands. Try a clear cup. Maybe he will not see it :hyper:

I don't like mesh nets - They're hard on their fins.
There are brine shrimp nets that are simply a silky cloth - No torn fins - Much easier on bettas. :)
There are other ways - You could try catching your betta in your hand - I did this before I got a net but I worried too much about jumping.
Another way to 'cup' them is while they're at the top, tip the cup in and as it pulls in water, get it close enough to pull him in. :)

I like doing it when they are at the top, the suction of water going into your cup pulls them in just fine.

The problem with chasing them around with a net or a small cup is they jet to corners and you end up having to pin them up against the wall, in which there is tons of ways he/she can be hurt.

They are fast little buggers though arent they? lol

my two boys are completely attached to my finger, where ever my finger goes they go too, so i put the beanie box in the tank sideways then put my finger in there, and in they swim :good:

Same here lilfishie, my red ct follows me everywhere so its just a case of lowering the cup and luring him in hehe. Failing that a silky net is the best thing to use.

I don't like using my hands, always weary that it could harm my boys in some way. I always use a plastic container of some sort and have a lid handy to put straight over the top in case they jump. I don't seal the lid on, just use it for cover.

Use my Hands or the fine silky nets you can get.

I use a plastic pot about the size of a cottage cheese container but the sort that have trifle in. They are see through and the fish seem to swim straight in..

if u have at much trouble put the cup in the water with some foodin the cup then kind of move him along with your hands towards the net hell swim in there for safety and use it as a hide out.

I use an old drinking glass, never been washed. Only rinsed he he. :shifty: That seems to do it well enough. Tatsu hates it but Jiaolong hops right in.
