hi can some one please tell me how to breed bettas i am really intrested in bettas and would love to breed them please help me
thanks in advanced sonofdelboy

Google. TONS of how-tos about breeding bettas. Research first, or you will end up with way to many babies to get rid of and only a dad.

There is a lot that goes into it. If you search these forums for "breeding" you should be able to pull up all kinds of information.

When you have a really good idea about what goes into it and how things work, there are many people here that can answer your questions more specifically and walk you through it.

You need to consider what you will do with potentially 20+ fry if you actually decide to do it. How will you house them? Will you have live cultures of food for them? Where will they go? All things that need to be considered.

Ur in the right place if you are interested though :good:

Agree with other comments just look around internet as there are hundreds of articles. Take the best bits from each and create your own method that suits you.

Only other thing I'd mention is that even when you get everything right in terms of conditions etc. success is not guaranteed. Sometimes the male or the female are not just not up to the task. Sometimes they are not compatible.

Key point is to research the topic fully and get comfortable with your methods so you know that this isn't the issue.

remember theres a lot that goes into it, and you can result in 100+ fry, it costs quite a bit of money to get the right set up, get live food cultures for the babies, and you'll need a bunch of seperate containers to seperate the juvis into when they're old enough. Also think about how many horribly bred vt and ct mutts there are dying on the shelves of pet stores because theres plain too many of them. So if you do breed breed QUALITY get a nice pair off of aquabid or something but PLEASE donot breed pet store fish

Why is just about everyone interested in breeding Bettas?

I don't now. It sounds like a lot of work to me. I don't have the time or space to put into it. And getting them to breed is only half the battle. Then you have to separate the fry at about 6 to 8 weeks. I can't even inagine having about 20 to 30 baby fish in jars all over the house. Then what do you do with them all? I am to much of a soft heart when it comes to fish, I don't know if I could cull the unwanted. Anyway its not for me.

hi people can you tell me do i have to put my bettas in the breeding tank then start conditiong or do i condition them in my main tank?
thanks in advanced sonofdelboy
thanks for all the replys

hi people me again if i got some leafs off my tree out side and whased them could they go in my breeding tank ? as the float

Do you have fish that you plan on breeding right now? What size is the tank you plan on using for breeding? How do you plan on setting it up? you could either condition them seperatly or divide the breeding tank while you condition them putting one on each side which may be more effective so they can see eachother.

hi my breeding tank is 10 gallon yes i have my fish for breeding can i put leafs in from outside ?? thanks sonofdelboy

DONT USE YOUR LEAVES!!

they will leak into your water and probably kill your fish

Almond leaves are best
