Hi there,

My son just found some mollies in the reserve in the park and he wants to keep them in his fish tank.  The water they were in was 16 degrees celcius.  Does anyone have advice on how I can get the temp up to 24ish without shocking them.

Thankyou.

Do you have a heater? They'll get the water to temperature slow enough.

A heater will make a gradual change, as Blough said.

You said that they were in a reserve/park, are you sure that they're legal to take?

After almost a week I'm sure the OP has resolved the temperature issues.

I'm curious to know whether the fish being discussed are in fact "Mollies" since, to my knowledge, they are not native to Australia and would most likely have been put into the waterway by someone who no longer wanted to look after them.

Yes, definitely legal. They shouldn't be in there anyway, people have dumped them
