OK, I have a betta thats about 2 and a half years old (probably more, since who knows how long he has been in the pet store). I know that that is old, but how old? Is it 100 years kind of old, 75 years kind of old, or guiness book of world records kind of old?

That's fairly old for a betta so well done :good: though I have heard of them living up to 5 but it's not all too common, 2-3 is usually the norm, the longest I've had a betta for is a year and a half but they're still going so fingers crossed! all my previous ones died before this age for various reasons.

I have bettas that are each over 5 years old since I got them. I have no idea how old they were when I got them but they were full adults, not the large juveniles you sometimes see in a LFS. They are not looking especially old yet but are not young any more. I am guessing they are like people in their 60s, not ready to die tomorrow but no longer youthful. At 2 1/2 years old, you have some middle aged fish, at the most.
