I have a 60 litre fish tank.

I have currently got -

2 Platys
1 Swordtail
3 Corys
1 angel fish
2 Mollys
1 Neon tetra

(10 fry)

How often should i do water changes??

Ive currently been doing about 30% every 3-4 days. is that ok?

My fish seem healthy and happy.

I took my water to the IFS last saturday.. Everything was fine nitrate, nitrite, ammonia was fine. Just PH was a bit high, but thats getting sorted out abit more now.

Advice would be most greatful.

xx

Hi Bambi211 :)

Just a suggestion......

When you get your water tested by an lfs, always ask them to give you numbers. Some of them will just say it's fine even when it's not. Your ammonia should read 0, nitrite 0, and nitrate low (it won't be lower than your tap water.)

The lfs seem to like selling pH correcting products and talk people into using them even when it's not necessary. Once you start using them it's hard to keep the pH constant. Unless your pH is extreme, or the kind of fish you keep is particularly sensitive to it, it's usually best to let the fish adapt to your water.

Off topic but the tank is a tad small for an angel and the neon wont be happy by itself due to being a shoaling fish :good:

Agree with Doresy there.I'd see if you can find anyone with neons to rehome your little guy,he'll be much happier.
60l,is that about a 2 foot tank?Keep an eye on the angel, they live for donkey's years and can get huge,so be prepared to rehome him also when he starts getting too big.
Re the water changes,if you can keep that up I'm sure your fish will love you for it.I have a little two foot tank that gets 2 x 50% water changes a week plus light sand vacs most days.Easy to keep this up on a small tank.My little guys are all happy and healthy and seem to love the water changes, they're very active during and after them.

Well i think ur stocking needs to be changed. You must get between 5 to 6 neon tetras since they do better in school. Exchange the angel fish with some more neons because the angel will eat them as soon as they get big enough.

Such excellent advice everyone thank you so much. Its all really helpful.
