I have one of the glass diffusers, that looks like an upturned bell with a spiral inside it (bubble counter) and a ceramic disk through which the CO2 diffuses. It's got some algae on it, but there's still CO2 coming out (makes a nice birdy 'tweet' sound) - so when do I clean it, and how?

you should clean it when it gets algae on it..use a cup to put it in then a small amount of bleach..let it soak for a couple hours..if it doesnt go away you dont have enough bleach..then rinse well and put back in cup with a large amount of dechlorinator..let it sit for a hour or so till the bleach smell is gone..bleach is just extra strong chlorine..hth

Ratio of 1 part bleech to 10 parts water is what ive heard to give you an idea.

Yeh bleach dip every few weeks or when needed. I just bung a load into some warm water and leave while I give the rest of the tank a good clean.
