I was attempting to come up with ideas to aquascape my 55 acrylic tank and i had the idea to use granite blocks from my local gardening center. They're pretty, and should not affect water conditions.
However, my tank is acrylic, and each granite block is approx 5 lbs. On top of the 50 lbs of sand substrate, i would like to use 10 blocks to make sort of a pyramid shape, leaving gaps inbetween each block to create tunnel-like structures.
It sits on a tank stand with support all the way around the sides, and also a center support that runs from front to back in the center of the tank.
In all, it will probably be about 60 lbs of granite blocks in addition to the 50 lbs of substrate. My question is will my acrylic tank be able to handle the weight?
Please help!
