Hey all,

well after grabbing some advice about my BOYU overhead light, I popped into pets at home to replace 2 of the T5 tubes (the moonlight and 1 normal) because I was worried at how much my moss was 'reaching' for light.

Well, picked up two 12" tubes (the only ones in the shop) one 'normal' one & one 'plant' one (both Interpet), made the usual mistake of not looking at the price on the shelf though...

£11.99... each.

I'm afraid to look online, but I'm pretty sure the last time I bought a tube this size (albeit quite a few years ago for a mini aquarium) it was £3...

Blooming 'eck!

But, it is nicer colour light.

Hmmm possibly a little. I bought three of the Interpet plant ones from there last month and they charged me £8 each.

Umm... £11.99 seems about normal retail price for the interpet bulbs actually...

No need to bash the shop, you bought it :P

Oh don't worry, my own fault! But, I'll take every opportunity to bash that shop, I'm amazed the 2 tubes I bought worked! - sorry it has to be the second worst pets at home when it comes to fish.

Yeah, I didn't think I would, but in the tank I set up in the lab at work, they've been unwilling to replace the bulb until it stops working, plant growth has slowed considerably over the past 4 months.

Oh blooming 'eck!

Already! One of the tubes is flickering.... have popped it out and swapped sockets with another tube, seems to be behaving, will see in a few mins...

Grrr! Take the two back and order some online! Humpf!!

i work at a fish store and you didn't pay much over considerin there overheads

Over the odds compared to who though?

Other pets at home stores. They are 8-9 quid in other stores. It's the area I live in unfortunately, everything is charged at a premium because there is 0 competition.

The flickering tube is going back tomorrow.

Chain stores have all their prices the same they don't alter them because there's no competition.

Not true, lol. Their web price remains the same, but individual store prices definitely differ. Check a few, I did.
