I would like to find how much money everyone spends on their aquarium every quarter (I felt that a month maybe too small a period for some of us). I'm not trying to cost the electricity & water bills (RO water not included), just the regular maintenance, new buys (fish, plants, decorations, equipment) etc.

My buying used to be quite high in the beginning but over the years the tank has settled and so has my spending. Its on an average around £40-50 every qtr.

I spend about maybe $100 or more which is about £50 , it just depends on what happens that quarter but this quarter I spent over $300 on my 55g which is about £150.

Well I can't vote because where I live we spend dollars not coins or what ever you guys use. But I spend about maybe $100 or more, it just depends on what happens that quarter but this quarter I spent about $300 on my 55g.

Just divide your dollars by 2 and that'll be roughly correct in £s.

I went for £11-30 as that's an average per quarter - although sometimes it's way more and other times I only need some food so it's less. :D

Well....For the last 3months things have been very expensive for me since i moved into my new home, because i upgraded to a 125 uk gal(150 us gals) at the beginning of the 3months which cots me about £600 for the entire set up- heating, filtration, lighting, substrate etc... On top of the amount of plants i bought and decor like bogwood and fake wood, i'd say another £200's on that(buying decent sized wood isn't cheap :p !).
I've also spent about £25's on new livebearers in the last 3months, plus another £30 on fresh meds and general supplys like fish food. In total i'd say i've spent about £860's roughly in the last 3months  .

But...
On a normal basis, if i wasnt buying new tanks and plants and stuff, it usually costs me about £40's to take care of my fish every 4months, so yeah, about £10's a month. I buy all my stuff like dechlorinator, meds and fish food in bulk when i can- even though my lfs is petty poor when it comes to keeping and selling fish, they give me alot of discounts when i spend money there as i usually spend lots in one go as i have my hamsters to take care of as well as well as i feed the wild birds in my garden alot.

And no, im not rich  .

Surrrrrrrrrrreeeee. Righhttttttttt. Uh huh yeah right, whatever floats your boat.

Uh-huh.
I've saved up for my big tank plus the future 2 new 125gals for over a year and a half now, so its not that unrealistic when you look at it that way- either way though i figured if i wanted to keep my plecs, i needed much larger tanks for them, and the way i saw it, there was no point in buying a tank whose gallons only just met my plecs needs when i'd probably have more cash in the future for even bigger tanks- so i opted for the biggest tanks i could posibly afford and fit into my home.
My 125gal really is a life time investment, and i have no intention of upgrading it or moving out of my current home, so...

But as you can see though, the last 3months aside, my spending on my fish is pretty average/normal.

cant really talk...
the last 2 months have now had about £1000 spent on fish & stuff

Sorry to be off topic but smithrc why did you add the word "work" to your username for?

because he has 2 accounts on tff. one for his work PC and one for home. basically when you see "work" dont be put off if it's a quick reply. he's at work

i however am always at work if i'm on here as i have no PC at home.

back on topic i suppose about £100 per 1/4 on the 3 tanks combined. but a year ago that was about £100 a month.

i was getting into a new hobby, what do you expect LOL i was buying everything i could lay my hands on and have a cupboard full of crap to prove it.
