How many watt heater would i need for a 45 gallon tank? Will 300 watt be enough?

300 will be fine....I run one on my 75g.

Is your fish tank in your house? If so you would be better off with a 200 watt heater, I would only get a higher heater if it was in a garage or somewhere cold.
