I am presently fishfree cycling a 90L tank ready for a community tank. How many Platys could I put in this tank?.......12? or more/ less

I would say (if you have patience) to start with about 1 male and 4-5 females...with plenty of hiding spaces they will quickly reproduce and give you a nice full tank with fish that you can guarantee are healthy! after your main fish pass on, you will have a nice healthy gene pool that you can choose some stunning color morphs from!

get a variety of colored platies - reds, sunsets, blacks, white etc etc and you will have gorgeous offspring!!!

You could easily keep 15 adult platies in that tank but as Jenste said, you don't need to start out with that many. As few as a trio will do the job in fairly short order.

I would love to have, sunsets, mickey mouse, red wag, blue wag, yellow, orange, any unusal coloured ones, but my lfs only stock, mickey mouse, yellow, orange, and red wags, very rarely see blues
what I thought was my tank is a aqua one 620 and I'm not sure if a breeding trop will fit...any ideas?

no - dont use a breeding trap - it causes undue stress to the mom and most often the fry explore back up the way they came and get eaten - keep it heavily planted, fake or real - especially in a corner away from the filter....the fry will naturally hide there and the strongest and healthiest will survive - which is what you want!

just plant plant plantas heavily as you can esp in one corner and nature will do the rest!

thanks, but if i were to go all female for now, how many will be ok in a 90L tank?

15 - just make sure you familiarize yourself with identifying anal fins - you don't want one male to sneak in or you will be overrun with fry!!!!

With or without a male, the females will carry enough sperm packets into your tank to overpopulate the tank. A female of the poeciliid group can easily carry enough sperm packets to produce fry for as much as 6 months after the last time they even saw a male.
