My tank has been up and running for over 4 months now. I added 8 fork tail rainbows on Saturday. Have tested the water today and nitrite is 0. ammonia is 0 and nitrates are 10.

Would it be ok to add 2 more fish today?

Yes, your tank looks cycled. You should go ahead and add them.

the man in the LFS said i had to wait 10 days after putting any fish in before putying more in, i knew this wasnt the case and have a feeling he wont sell me them today.

would a pair of blue dwarf gouramis be ok with my stocking in my signature?

i think that advice is for people who haven't cycled their tank i may be wrong but i thought people doing a fish in cycle add fish slowly and people who have done a fishless cycle can add them in larger amounts.

He is right that if you do what he says, then it would be almost impossible to have any problems, so actually.. big thumbs up to him, for being responsible! :good:

I would recommend against adding any more species of fish to your tank. If you insist on getting gouramis, at least get one female and one male because two males are likely to kill each other.

sound knowledge there guy (girl?)
I'm wondering if you stopped putting ammonia in the tank 4 days ago( or longer), an amount of die off will have occurred, .as the bio mass adjusts to the ammonia load is has from your 8 rainbows. personally, I'd leave it a week between introductiions (probably excessively long. better safe than sorry though) and keep regular check on water state.

however, as i understand it. at the end of a fishless cycle, you can fully stock the tank right away.

could i not get 2 female? i would rather they didnt breed

The females don't really have any colour though

And it's not like they breed like guppies. You won't be overrun with gouramis!

Two females would be better, but then you may as well get a group of female honey gouramis, who tend to be healthier. I still recommend against addition of gourami.

would you still recommend against the addition if i was to take out the celebe rainbows?

I think that would be much better option, replacing the celebes rainbows with gouramis.
