how long do i boil for a slate rock

I just put some rocks in my tank as well, they werent slate, but I was told to boil them for at least 10 minutes. This could be wrong, but I think a reasonable assumption could be that all rocks are the same as far as how to sanitize them before putting them in a tank. (as long as they are aquarium 'safe' type of rock, of course.)

At least 5 minutes, but more if possible. And make sure you let them cool down before you pop them in the tank or they might crack from temp change.

When I brought back some slate from a walk up Tryfan, I washed it in an empty dishwasher first, on the hottest setting, and then baked it in the oven at the hottest temp(250C) for about four hours. It's been in the tank for about three months now, with no problems.

Makes a lovely cave for my Kribs!
