How Long Before I Remove Sponges

Hi.
I have had a tetratec 1200 running along side the 125 juwel internal filter for 3 weeks...A few days ago removed the internal and put all the sponges(4) in the tetratec..Tank looks much better without big black box in the corner (lol) In time i would like to remove the juwel sponges from the tetratec...have been taking readings and at the moment still double zeros.What would be the best way to do this.. Remove one sponge in a couple of weeks(keeping a careful eye on ammonia and nitrites readings) then do likewise with the rest? ...Could if required give the juwel sponges to someone to seed their filter Regards Zac (u.k Norwich)

Yes you should remove them one at a time week by week, keeping a close eye on your stats, but unless they are considerably slowing down the flow rate then I cant see any need to remove them anyway.
