Looking at selling my oscars, wondering how easy people have found it and what sort of price they get?

I'm looking to get £20 for 3, 2 are 6" Red Oscars and the other is a 3" Tiger

Does this sound fair enough?

to be honest Matt there are numerous oscars that are dumped at lfs and sell for next to nothing

they are a great fish to own and become very interactive with their owners but too mant people buy them small and panic when they get too big or turn aggressive. the fact that they are very easily available and very cheap to buy even from lfs doesnt help along with their extremely fast growth rate if cared for in the right manor as people will soon have a large fish....

there are many for sale on AQ that are there for weeks or even months on end before they sell or go back to lfs

its such a shame as they are stunning fish but people just dont want them anymore it seems. my local MA has an 8 inch tiger oscar thats been there for 3-4 months and i was offered it for £10. its just a shame that my oscar Keith has claimed the tank to himself especially if anything is over 6 inches otherwise i would love to take on a second oscar but i just cant risk it after he killed the green terror i tried with him not that long ago

everytime i see another oscar for sale im so tempted as i would love 2 large O's together in the same tank but its hit and miss and i cant put another fish through what the GT went through.

£20 is a fair price but with so many other cichlids available today oscars arent sought after anymore and sometimes cant even be given away.

so sad but true....

good luck with the sale but if you need them gone soon you may have to give them away if poss :/

I was at Wildwoods at the weekend and they had some cracking Oscars they were selling for £19 each! They were around 4-5" I guess. My brother ended up buying one. They were labelled as "Red Map Tiger Oscars". I've never seen Oscars with such good colouration in them, never heard of "Red Map" personally.

All you can do mate is try, put them what you think is a good price and see, i sold a 5inch for 10pounds...my lfs sells two 8-10 inch for 50-60pounds as breeding pairs, there not pairs, i know unless hes soooooo lucky, ive counted 30 different pairs in 4 years. but people pay the price here,

very true what nelly has said.

people will pay what they think a fish is worth, if they really like them then they will pay. its very hard to put a price on a fish and it makes it harder the more you love the fish as to you its worth probably more than someone who is just buying an fish/oscar....

i dont think £20 is a bad price but it does depend on how soon you need them gone i guess.

good luck with the sale :good:
