Hey Guys and Girls,

I bought myself three Starbai Corydoras yesterday and introduced them to my tank along with some new plants (at last!). However when I came down this morning one of the new cory's has just vanished! There is no trace of it what so ever?! I have looked everywhere and I am now so confused!! The last place I could look is under the black box which is on the side but I filled it underneath for gravel just for this exact reason.

Any suggestions or ideas? It's tankmates are Zebra Danios, Rasboras and a BN Plec, surely none of these could've of eaten it?

Ben

None could have eaten them. It's either they jumped, sucked into the filter, or are hiding somewhere because the BN probably scared them.

Id also say up their numbers. Corydoras need to be in groups of 6

Hmm I have checked filter no where to be seen, I have lifted my mopani wood and check in every crack and crevice! I think I need to get this black box removed, it's starting to do my head in! Wish I done it before I set it all up now!

Yeah I am going to up the numbers but just couldn't afford to get all 6 at once so will add another 3 in a few weeks time.

The other two are absolutely fine and seem to be loving life!

Just keep lookin and youll find em

I was going to ask... cories are not common jumpers, but its possible.

Yeah I have lifted the lid off and checked the bit of glass that runs across the surface of the water and nothing there, I have had a quick glimpse outside of the tank but there is no way it could get out, it's completely seal off around the top by the lid, the only gaps are for the cables to run through and these are all filled by cables

checked the bag you bought them in

Yep was watching all three of them exploring their new environment last night

Was it small enough you think that it could've died and then been eaten? I doubt this but just wondering. They are great at hiding. I hope you find it soon! :)

They are probably about the same size as my rasbora. 3-4cm I'd say. I just can't believe that there would be no remains what so ever even if it had been eaten :s

Just looking at my tank again and I have noticed I have a very plump rounded zebra danio, either it has had a big feast or is carrying eggs?!

just a guess but i probs would say it has gotten streesed in transport in in acclimation process died and has been eaten by the bn

I thought about that but I would expect to at least see something left
