How Do You Keep Your Sand So Clean?

I have sand as a substrate in my tank....and no matter what i do it always looks awful!! between tiny bits of wood my bristlenose rasps off to poo....i feel like i can never get my tank to look presentable!


i use my siphon every other day and its soooo annoying!!!


what do you guys do to keep your sand looking clean?

Good water circulation, aim for about 10x circulation and providing flow is even, your substrate should stay crap free

how can i increase my circulation? without dislodging my plants and sending my cories flying lol

How big is The tank? I would go for a hydor koralia.

Malaysian Trumpet Snais do a great job keeping my tank sand substrate clear of poo and uneaten fod including leftover cucumber and other veggies I feed my livebearers.

its a 35 gallon - i cant keep snails - my kribensis female killed them all!

I have really white sand and the poop also annoys me sooo much. I even resort to sometimes daily small water changes to clean the top of the sand. Im interested in learning how big a hydor koralia I would need for a 29 gallon also.
