Other than dechlorinator, I try not to. I try to use natural remedies for sickness and I enjoy keeping my tanks as natural as possible.

I add blackwater extract (bettas only), and occasionally stress guard. That aside, the only thing in my tank is Aquasafe; I refuse to mess with pH, or add fertilizers, anti-algae solutions, etc.

Yeah, I've never used anything actually, besides Aquasafe and Stress coat.
I'm too afriad to make a mistake, so I figure as long as all my fish are happy, I'm happy.
Except when the tank has green algy on the glass, that drives me nuts!
It takes me about 20 mins to scrape all of it off the glass in my 55G

yes i also hate algae, i hate it most on my ornaments coz it takes ages to get it from out all the cracks and detailed bit, unless anyone knows some quick tricks!

I don't use any chemicals right now aside from the occasional medicine treatment or mineral supplement. Once I get my shellies, I'll be adding Lake Tang mineral and calcium supplements. I use R/O and pre-filtered tap water so I don't even use dechlorinator.

I use Stress Coat and Stress Zyme at weekly water changes. I don't have any visible algae as I have a Common Pleco and a Golden Apple Snail. I also use Nutrafin Waste Control. I have a Nitrate Removing Sponge (don't know if that counts as a chemical) which I am going to stop using soon as it cuts down the amount of algae in the tank. Thinking about it, I actually need some to grow for the Pleco and Snail. (They have other food of course!). :)

Yeah. The one thing I might be concered about it using a chemical often, then stop using it, and have something die or get sick because it was so use to being on it.
I read this artical where this guy used this "No Algey" chemical in his aquarium, and after a couple of months he decided to stop using.
Litterally days after he started getting serious algey.

I only use Stress Coat and some ferts for my plants. I have also used Melafix on a couple occasions.

I feel fine using chemicals in my tanks. I don't see why people worry about adding chemicals to their tanks such as 'PH up or down' to lower the PH etc, and have never had any problems using these.

I don't see any problem in using them, but even I only use them from time to time. :)

i don't really like putting any chemicals in my tank if i can help it, last time i had to use meds it wiped out the bacteria in my filter a bit so went into a mini cycle :grr: :X

It depends on what chemical it is, I would use melafix cause thats only aloe vera, and I use some in small doses, I think thats ok.

but I wouldn't use loads and loads of the stuff

I only use dechlor, meds and occasionally liquid ferts, and I voted the last one becasue I would need to use a lot more to get my water to the type I'd like it to be, eg, ph down, BW extract, water softener etc.

I use dechlor, and StressCoat after water changes. Nothing else goes in unless someone is sick and needs meds.
