Just wondering how you all test your water using api kit.

Do you hold the tube to the card or do you hold it slightly away?

Only reason i ask is cause when you hold it slightly away from the card the test shows one result and holding it against the card produces a darker colour!

I think in bright light holding it back against the white card will produce the most accurate colour. Most of the time I never use the cards for comparison, done it so many times, know what colours to expect. Also never found the Nitrate test to be all that accurate, so have just kept up the WC's. HTH.

I hold the card up vertically with the light source to my back and lay the tube against the white part they give me for that use, to the right of the color strips. I compare the light center color of the sample to the color on the card and judge by hue, not by color density.
