I have been trying for months now. I have done hours of reading, i have done several methods to try to get them breeding!

I have added 4 caves, different sizes to try to get at least a decent one!
I have done 50% water changes, dipping the temperature down by 2, and leaving the heater of for about 2 hours
I have increased the amount of Bloodworms and meaty foods
I have a MATURE male and 2 MATURE females before that gets said
Tank has 3 very fast currents!
Tank is full of Bogwood, with live plants, 180l tank, well cycled, Using sand not graval, Water changes, either 15-20% every 3days or 35% every 7days!

Any more suggestions?

wot are ur water params? somethimes tank conditions may be the problem with not spawning.

u say u have 3 mature BN's but how old exactly re they? :)

Hi, thanks for the fast reply!

My water stats are, 27°C.
The hardiness in the dH 25 last time i checked.
The pH is around 7 - 8.0 in PH Think last time i checked it was 7.4

I have had them for about a year and a half now, and they have stopping growing, they were a nice size before getting them.

ammonia , nitrite, nitrate level?

O sorry

Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 5ppm
Ammonia 0ppm

If it helps, I sometimes watch my females, and they give signs, I think. They follow the male everywhere, Chasing him, trying to jump on him (kind of thing) but the male just sleeps on his wood all day :(

levels seem 2 be fine, sounds like u just have a lazy male lol try a few more water changes say 20% each day for 3-4 days when u think they may be frisky :p try 2 drop the temp about 4 ish degrees this level shouldnt haqve a problem for them always a chance that they mite be slow satrters lol :)

other than that im not sure wot more u could do other than try another mature male :)

Thanks for your advise, il give it a go, and will tell you the results :good:

i have a male and female and literally in my case its just add water and they breed, i have 3 different generations and got another batch thats hatching today, my temps around 23-24c, a couple of flower pots and bogwood and normal tap water

i have 3 males and 2 females in a fairly large and well stocked community and couldn't get them to breed after few months of trying with no result i got a 9 gallon tank and put 1 male and female in it and 3 weeks later babies

That could well be the problem. Perhaps they are feeling rather stressed within a community tank. Has anyone succesfuly breed them in a community tank?

By the way, Could someone possible advise me on decent size caves, As im thinking something is wrong, I havnt seen the male or female go inside one, they go on top but never inside :(

Do you think its worth me turning the temp down abit from 27? perhaps down to 25?
