I'm guessing admin decided based on how helpful you are/how much input you give ect

I don't think theres any moderator vacancies just now, but when there is, the existing mods and admin pick someone from the membership.

Decision is made by all the mods based on need. Moderatorship is offered based on consistency, fairness, knowledge and ability to make a wicked peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
