I think you can only do it once you reach 1000 posts

i think it's 1200, well between 1000-1200 anyway

You can change it at 1,200 posts.

It is some kind of automatic thing that looks at how many posts you have and assigns a value. I think it can be over-ridden in your user CP but I have never seen a reason to try that.
