ok, got the given tank to me out in the garden, decided it's time for a clean...it is in a right state but i haven't had the energy to face scrubbing off all the alge...it's been sitting in my mate's shed for two years and you can't even see thru to the back or sides due to the amount of algea dried on, or so i think that's what it is, it's green!

how the heck to i get rid of it??!!! thanks!

i don't wanna use cleaners, but i think i may have to then clean it with vinegar afterwards then a salt bath just to make sure it's ok...what do ya'll think?

Half fill it with warm water, get one of those algae scrapers with a metal blade, get a tin of elbow grease and scrape away! Watch out for the siliconed edges though

I was given a tank that sounds like what you have. I didn't want to take a chance of scratching the tank, so I made a paste of baking soda and water. I just added enough water to make a thick paste, works great as a light abrasive. That and a lot of elbow grease did the job, just make sure you rinse well. Oh, I also filled the tank and let it soak for 30min or so, then drained it before I cleaned to let the algae soften up a little.
