How Do I Clean The Bottom Of My Tank?

Yep, been there and done that as well............

If it was'nt for Miss Wiggle and others, I would have gone mad, returned the fish and tank and started knitting...!!!

well... what are you waiting for, i'm after a nice beanie type knited hat...... ;)

And which little fishy will be wearing it may I ask???

me! my ears get cold when i'm cycling to work in this weather, i need a hat to go under my cycle helmet :D

i'm not even joking, decided yesterday i'm gonna look for one.

hahahaha I actually read that U.K and also my native Holland is very cold with heaps of snow at the moment........

We have the complete opposite down under...................was 43 degrees celcius yesterday and been very hot last few weeks.......
Need to make small 10% water changes at times just to keep the tank under 27 degrees..........

thanks for that

got 6" of snow predicted for tomorrow

I have my test results from last night

PH 7.6
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 40ppm

Is this ok?

yup spot on :good:

as the tanks fairly new you should keep testing every couple of days, if you get any results for ammonia or nitrite let us know and we'll tell you what to do.

nitrates a little high but not anything to worry over, you don't want it to get any higher though. Regular weekly water changes and vaccing should keep it under control

can you do a nitrate test on your tap water and post the results so we know what you have to work with?

:p YAY!!!

Yeah it is ive had it for about a month and a half now, got it as an xmas pressie but i got it b4 xmas ^_^

Yeah i will let you know thanks

My boyfriend said i dont really need to do water changes that often as i have a good Eheim external filter?

Yep i will do that tonight :D

Thanks

i think that's rubbish tbh, weekly maintenance is a must even with a good filter. once you get the hang of it you'll find it doesn't take long.

Well i will vacumn it once a week, that takes out most of the water any way so i will be doing a water change all in one lol

yup exactly, that's the best way to do it, you only need to take out about 25% each week.
