How do bettas lose their tail? Mine just all of the sudden lost its tail!!. Theres no sign of tear, it looks like part of it just came off!!. What should I do, can it grow back?

Hi animals - what is your betta's living situation? Could you possibly get a picture?

1. For temporary he was in a 1 gallon un-filtered tank until I got a tank divider and put it in a filtered to gallon. Know he is in the 10 gallon.
2. No, my camera dosent get good pics of fish.

Likely what has happened here was the ammonia reached a very high level and damaged his fins. Without a picture it is hard for me to say for sure but he may be suffering from fin rot. You will need to maintain very clean and warm water for him and he will grow them back fine! I had a betta lose a lot of his finnage in a similar situation. All it took was time and a little effort for him to grow it back.

sounds like he has fin rot.
hope you cycled the 10 gallon. also if you are going to treat him for fin rot then you need to take the carbon out of the filter...
