How Clean Is Fishwater?

I have an Eheim 2213 Classic (without taps). Basically I was trying to get sponge from the filter casing; naturally this required taking the thing apart.

So after half an hour of water everywhere and getting soaked I had to prime the pump....just like when I set the filter up for the 1st time. Unfortunately the filter in question was quite dirty and covered in brown gack (along the inside of the tubing).

Unfortunately I managed to get a LOT of this dirty brown water in my mouth whilst doing so; yes disgusting - I've already rinsed my mouth out with mouthwash! =P

My question is - how clean is the fishwater? Would it cause stomach upset/illness if swallowed? I don't think I swallowed any but I would like to know nevertheless =/

Unlikely, the brown stuff is just Algae, fish water is pretty clean, my cat drinks it with no issues

So I'm gonna be fine? Assuming of course that the human body reacts in the same way as your furry friend there =P

Lol for some reason I can picture a man taking the occasional glass of fishwater along with his evening chippy..............

Thanks very much mate - I'm not so sure its algae though; the nitrates are too low for algae (and theres none on the glass yet).
