How Can You Tell A Good Lfs

I was replying to another thread and thought this might be a fun topic. You have to reply in one line.

I need to find a good LFS nearby for stock and advice (in addition to you all) and forget about PetSmart. How do you know a good LFS when you find it?

Tell them you have a 75L tank and ask how many clown loaches you can keep. If they say a number greater than ZERO; move on.

or

As you walk up to the door look up. If you see Pets @ Home or Petsmart above you; move on.

Ask them how many male Siamese Fighting Fish you can keep in 1 tank

I tend to stick to the LFS's I know, if a new one opens up or I'm in one I've never been to before, in another area, I tend to go in and ask questions such as:

•oooh, what's that?
•how many of them could I have?
•what size tank would I need?
•whats this I hear about a fishless cycle?
•can one of them go with one of them?

I do not buy any fish from them on that day but will correct them and inform them that I know a wee bit about fish before I leave. If their answers are good then I will go back, possibly to buy fish, possibly not. Any that give false information I won't go back to, there is no point.
There's 3 shops I will buy my fish from in the whole of Northern Ireland, I have to drive around 90 minutes to get to one of them but that's how I like to get my fish.

That sounds more like it, a good LFS removes dead fish quickly
