Hi, I have seen some Oscar's and I know they grow big and are to be kept in there own tank and on there own or in pairs? (is that right?) I was seeing if any one could suggest the size of tank that would be suitable for them.
Am I right in thinking a Plec would be fine in there too to help with algae? and is there any think else I should know before I put more thought in to this?
Any advice would be gratefully received, many thanks.

a six footer could house nicley. 2x oscars and 1x pleco.... but if you are going to keep oscars together please remember some of tyeh red oscars and red tiger osacrs tend to bicker between one another. pecking order starts with red tiger oscar.... being the most dominant due to there aggressivness. then red oscars.. likmld agressive and finally albiono being almost harmless.. if your going to get 2 i advise you get both of teh same type. that will allow them to take care of there own when in a fight with the same type of oscar.

if you go ahead with this i would advise you get a good filtration system.. for these fishies are rather messy....
even if you have 1x internal canister filter on each side as long as teh filtration is good you shouldnt have any worries.

i hope this has helped you....

thanks for that, i think i need to move to a bigger place before that happens then :( but never mind. i'l just have to put up with my small tank for the moment.

if there'd one word to describe oscars, its messy. like community begginer said, you'd have to watch out for aggression. i heard oscars raised in groups from young tend to be able to cohibit with one another. i've seen tanks, huge tanks at shops, 8ft or so with 6-7 oscars and they seem happy.

8ft tank now thats a big ass tank! i've been told that they are an intelligent fish that can recognise there owner's? but it's somthing to work towords. thanks for all your responses
