well, 1st off I should say that not only do you need more tiger barbs for them to act normally, but also, angels and tiger barbs r totally unsuited for eachother, as the barbs will nip the angels fins, and the same goes for the red hooks. anyway, ur looking for a tank i think around 80-100 gallons, although you might b able to keep them in a 75.

I would say your okay with a 75. a VERY VERY simple rule of thumb (of course it doesnt always apply, some fish require MUCH more) is 1-2 gallon per inch the fish can grow. So take the maximum size the fish(s) can get and add them all together. That'll atleast give you a round about idea of where to be.

I would agree with FishRfine, tiger barbs are a very involved school of fish. It is better, and you will see a huge difference in their attitude if you have a school of them together. Id say atleast 5 or 6 at the very least. But as far as putting them together with angel fish, my experience with it was okay. Yeah they do nip at each other, but tiger barbs are much faster than angelfish so they can easily run away, especially if you have a bigger tank.

thats not the prob. the prob is that the angels will get shredded by the tigers, not vice versa. as you said, the barbs are way faster. theyll tear the poor guys apart.

I would recommend a 48" x 15" x 18 (or 50-55gallon tank) or a 48" x 12" x 18" (40-45gal tank) minimum. But i would say that the fish you have suggested will not all get along- tiger barbs are not recommend to keep with angelfish due to their nippy/agressive nature, and neither are the tiger barbs recommended tank mates for peaceful fish like silver dollars.
Silver dollars are shoaling fish and can grow up to 8inches long (although smaller is more common), they are primarily herbivores but are also insectivores, they will eat any live plants you put in the tank, but they also do best in planted tanks (so fake plants would be handy). Some people have managed to keep their silver dollars off live plants by feeding the silver dollars a wide variety of vegs. Because they are shoaling fish, i would recommend at least a group of 5 silver dollars.
Black widow tetras are also shoaling fish so i would recommend at least a group of 6-8 (although the more is better) in a 40-50gallon tank.

Are you familiar with cycling tanks or the nitrogen cycle?

Oh, well my angelfish is quite aggresive, the barbs run from him. haha, maybe he just has something to prove. My fault for giving out false info. Good looking out though :)

thx guys well ii must say my angel fish are agressive to they dont take any hassle from the barb but the new angel fish is getting it tho thxTokis checking that link

In response to FishRFine's claim of the tiger barbs eating the angelfish's fins, in a shoal of about 12 tigers the aggression is displaced between the Tiger barbs and --usually-- no other fish, Angelfish can be quiet agressive and territorial, and they will defend themselves once they hit a larger size (usually about 3-3.5") Tiger barbs are not as ill suited as you may come to believe, in the past I had a shoal of 20 tiger barbs with my 2 large Angelfish (each about 4.5") and everbody got on fine.

Not everyone's experience with keeping tiger barbs with angelfish are as positive as yours though- only the other day on the forum someone had troubles with their tiger barbs attacking and wounding their angelfish. Its very true that in a large shoal tiger barbs are less likely to pay attention to other fish, but this still does not completely rule out the posibility of agression from the tiger barbs towards other fish either way.
Personally i wouldn't recommend keeping them together as from what i've seen it can be a risky fish combo, ultimately though the silver dollars would enjoy more peaceful and less active tankmates than tiger barbs as unlike angelfish, they're really not good at defending themselves. Technically you might be able to mix them together, but i am sure the silver dollars would be a bit stressed at having the active tiger barbs around even if there was no direct bullying/agression between the two types of fish.
