they were a gold color and AWSOME!! what type of molly can get that big and ne info u can give me on them??
i have a 75 gal brackish tank 1.003 sal. and its pretty big fo rthe few fish i now have.
i had 2 scats and a mono but took then back i had them like maybe a month and they got very agressive and ate up my like 6 in dragon fish!! so i gave them back to the pet store. i think i really enjoy the live bearers and it would be great to have a BIG one or two in thier!!

I have owned 5 to 6 inch black mollies. They get quite big if fed the right diet. I know a perosn who has 4 to 5 inch long guppies. He says its because in the summer he puts them in a pond and all the crap they eat makes them grow to be HUGE.

These sound like sailfins: did the male have a large display dorsal? Magnificent fish, and there's nothing I'd like better than a brackish tank with these. One male and a couple of females would be ideal- and then sit back and wait for the fry :hyper:

Agreed they are likely to be either the Poecilia latipinna or Poecilia velifera species - both commonly sold as Sailfin Mollys

Agreed with the mollies' sizeness. I've seen a 7 inch wild sailfin once.

Krib, 4-5inch guppies? Are you serious. Can they be "Super Guppies" that once be more common in 1980's or was just mosquitofish (Gambusia species) which looks like a female guppies but more aggressive. If they are guppies, can I have some?

That must be a man's 5 inches. LOL.

thanks for all ur help. . i think is AWSOME!!! i love these big ones. with a bigger tank like mine i would love to have bigger fish and bigger fry. the thing is im sure if i get like 3 of then one being a male and they have fry of course they will be bigger but my reg mollies that are like and inch or inch and a half id think all thier fry would be eaten up by big ones. could i keep my mollies now with the big ones if i get them???

WOOHOO left for a playday at the mall and came back to see FRY in my big 75 gal WOW! i thought she was prego but it seemed really fast!!!! i have some floating plants (everthing is fake) and then the fry grass and im pretty sure thiers small cracks and home in my giant 20$ peice of drift wood! will they survive?? i have a gsp in thier bt hes showed no agression so far.

My mollies are around the 5' mark easy.

I've got loads of the sodding things. The big boss female called skip passed about 1 months ago she left around 30 fish of various sizes all of which she gave birth too. Skip was easy 5-6 inches when she died and the other female are catching up to her size.

The only problem I now have is they are very much the top fish in the tank. Anything that I introduce these days has to take on the might of my molly colony and sadly most have failed.

My BN plecs even have a hard time as they keep eating their eggs. A fact that is really doing me in.

This guy lives in Pekin Illinois. As far as im aware, there regular guppies. If you are willing to make the trip, i can give you the number of the fishtore he works at and you can ask him yourself.

Years back guppies use to be huge and over the years they have got smaller and smaller, so have mollies but you do still get the bigger ones but not often...
