I have a 55 gallon (US) tank and was wondering if I could house freshwater fish like tetras and barbs in it . I put the koi outside when it gets warmer, but they still have to go back in latter. The tank is fine for tetras ie. temp, Ph, amoniaa, filtration. Can you house koi with tropical fish? They are not that big.

They will go outside when they get bigger. The Question was can they be housed with other fish? Not goldfish. TROPICAL FRESHWATER FISH!

the koi shouldn't be kept at the higher temp required for tropicals and if any fish can in anyway fit in the mouth of the koi it will be gone in seconds

The koi should be at what 20cm in a year or two which is to big to fit in a 55us gallon
