Hi.
I have purchased some ammonia to carry out a fishless cycle, however there were 2 available at homebase, and i'm not sure which one I should use.
Bottle 1 contains 9.5% ammonium hydroxide, remaining water and passed the froth test.
Bottle 2 contained 9.5% ammonia but frothed slightly when shaken.
Currently have bought bottle 1, is this ok to use? Thanks in advance.

Excellent. Thanks for your speedy reply. Posting on mobile at work at the moment, and really wanted to get this sorted tonight so at least now I don't have to go back via the shop! Cheers.

Thanks guys. Just the advice I needed. Tank is now setup and fishless cycle process has commenced.

For information, My ammonia was picked up from Homebase, Taunton. 500ml bottle. £2.12. Boots didn't have it in stock, and would have taken until next week to get it and I'm impatient!

For the record, for other beginners noticing this thread title - I've timed it and the correct ammonia solutions usually only create rather large bubbles for 2 or 3 seconds, which then disappear, more or less exactly like water. So when shopping you could just have some bottled water with you to do a comparison shake and see if the ammonia solution seems to be foaming significantly more, which would indicate soaps or other surfactants you wouldn't want. Hopefully a few other members might confirm my observations.
