Well as in England it has got very hot my fish tanks temps have gone high i was told to put a small bag of ice in it has any one elce doe stuff like that ?

I've never done it but I'd think that would make the water around the bag really cold.... and the fish would get a bit of a shock swimming through that area. -_-

You could get a pedestal fan and set it up to blow across the water evenly.

Yep, here in Suffolk the heaters are all unplugged but our tanks are still running at 30c
Thankfully we can open the lids and put the ceiling fan on full blast which seems to do the trick.

Have to keep topping the tanks up though, the evaporation is horrendous!

I reckon I could fill a brackish tank in ten minutes just with the sweat that's pouring off me!

(ew)

Flamin heck, I hope we get a thunderstorm soon!

someone here told me to use a bottle with frozen water, and you could place it near the filter outlet where the water flow and movement is high so that the cold water moves within the tank :) you'll just have to hold the bottle with a string or a sucker thing (can remember how they are called) so that it stays put

God bless central air conditioning! :D :D :D :p
Indeed!!
Here in Texas you just about have to have it or you'll die of heat stroke during the summer months! :X

I'm having great success keeping my tanks cool by propping the lights up on little wood blocks and then using a small (6 inch) desktop fan to blow across the top of the tank. Temperatures here in Arizona are well over 100 degrees daily, but even with the AC running and the house at 78 degrees the one tank was heating up to 83 - 84 degrees. Since I lifted the lights up a couple of inches they are staying right at 76 degrees.

I'm trying (and failing) to keep my tanks cool with cold water changes... they're all around 28/29 degrees C. I got my coldwater tank down to 21 yesterday night but this morning it's back up to 23C. My tropical community is at 26 this morning which isn't bad, but the tanks in my bedroom are still at 27-28 even though I got them both down to 25 last night. Surely all the fluctuation can't be good?? anyone have any advice? Does the bottle by the filter outlet work or does it just create a cold spot? My plants are doing well though...

my kittens don't seem too happy either :-( they're not allowed out yet because they're too young and haven't had their injections, and they aren't happy.

no my cats are dead restless too and cant get comfy, just sprawl out all over the floor, they are breathing dead quick too. my tank seems ok, i live in a terrace houseand it keeps quite cool when its warm outside.

Mine are pushing 30 degrees today :-( but at least the fish are still swimming around as usual and do not look too stressed. It might also be because I keep my tanks at around 27 and 28 as their usual temperatures. I've got the fans going full blast and all windows open for whatever breeze might come in.

Yeah, my cat isn't moving either - lying sprawled and motionless like a dead cat !

Where's that thunderstorm everyone keeps promising ? :)

Apparently all the hot air is coming from France  I kid you not, it said in the paper :p My tanks are fine, then again, they're pretty warm anyway.

damn france!!! We should sooo not be part of the EU... lol

my tropical fish don't seem too stressed, the goldfish were NOT happy yesterday night (28/9 degrees) though. Already today the goldfish are back up to 24/5... oh no no no no no!!! *might go and do a cold change now*
