in theory that's a good idea, I've thought of that one, but haven't done it because I'm scared of accidentally killing off my filter bacteria by freezing them. Does anyone know if this could happen??

also... is it better for fish to be at a constant (too hot) temparature, or is it better to try and keep the tank cool - though it is fluctuating a lot?

Personally I think a constant hot is better than constant fluctuations. Hot with gradual increases in decreases (over several hours) would be better I think.

ah ha! that's a good idea.

but... what if you are like me and have no ice, because your housemates refuse to put 'human' food in the ice tray because that's where you keep your bloodworm and assorted seafood puffer fish nosh? *i'm just being difficult now you don't have to answer that :hey: *
