I was wondering...
my tank temp is 80-84, and its unheated at hte moment, will my fish be alright?
the temperatures here are crazy! its 87+++ at hte moment, funny thing is....this is mid- northern Canada! weather here is unpredictable ...
Will my fish be alright?
There is lots of surface movement in the tank.
Ammonia and nitrite readings are at 0.
(Edit) Fish in sig

On those few super hot and humid days we've had here in CT, I've intermittently tossed ice cubes into the tanks. It's helped. They all did alright having a day when the tank reached mid-80's, but I wouldn't want to do it too long. Now, we have the AC unit set up around the 2 rooms that the fish are in. That and some fans to circulate the cooler air has helped tremendously.

alright i have a fan tby the tanks right now.... making me cool while im at it,
the tank has cooled down to 80 since yesterday though.
Sorry about hteh double post, thanks mods for deleting!

I would like to knowb how the weather is affecting wild fish populations.

it doesnt effect them as much as aquariums since in the wild there are far more natural processes going on. such as evaporation - the wind blowing over the water, the shade from rocks, trees, and plants, the sun going behind clouds, the current of the water flow, etc. in the wild fish can relocate if need be unlike in an aquarium where theyre limited to a few feet if even that. wild is far more stable.

see my tanks in my sig. Never worried about temp with my tanks and I have had my goldfish for a year, accept for a new addition a few weeks ago. I tried the ice cube thing and frozen bottles, never did much to the tank, so didn't worry about it after that and that was after having my goldfish for more that 3 yrs. My tropical tanks are fine. I just make sure they are away from windows. The last few days it has been quite hot here and fish are all fine.

yah mine are all right, as for wild fish populations , idont know, where i do live is a former swampy area, so in patches of muddy grass will reside frogs, and ive noticed they gone away recently.
Hm and about wind, iwas out yesterday even the wind is scorching hot LOL
so yeah but otherwise my tanks are all good

When you add ice cubes don't just add one. Add a bag full ever 2 hours if it reaches 88+

I wish I had the excuse to cool my tank...that day will never ever happen here in wet and dreary Ireland...terribly wet and depressing country right now!!!
