Hey all,
I set up a 5 gallon filtered and heated aquarium for my betta. Problem is, even with the heater unplugged the temp gets very close if not exactly 84 f in the middle of the day. Before you ask, no it is not in sunlight or in front of an air vent or heater, its actually in a shaded area. Anyway, as unplugging the heater wont do much anyway, and i dont want fluncutating temps, will the betta be ok in 84 f water? I would say it hits 84 from about mid-day to sunset, then it stays at 82 or 80.

Thanks,
Drew

bettas like to be in temps of about 30.I think 84 is a little high,And the drop of temperature isnt good for the fish realy.
Ben.

30?
I guess celsius?

Yes, 84 is a tad high.. But not altogether awful.
84 is usually used in situations of parasites, etc etc.. 82 would be better.. But, since it seems to be beyond your control, I would leave the heater in. As has been said, temp fluctuations aren't good for any fish, much less bettas. :good:

Thanks to all. Let me say, i do understand that temp flux are awful for fish. I will not be moving the heater in and out or unplugging it now that i know 84 is tolerable. I will attempt to get it at a steady 82 if possible without stressing the fish. Once again, thanks a lot!
