Can I run something by youguys.

Hospital tanks.....You buy fish from LFS and transport them home to a Hospital tank where they swim for a number of weeks....obviously they are stressed out due to being transported from their home in the LFS to the new home.....

The you move them from the Hospital tank to your proper tank.....whats the crack then....dont the fish get stressed again being moved to the new tank?

It is to protect any current stocking you have. It is always best to make sure the fish your getting does not have some communicable disease that could wipe out the rest of your tank. Hence, having the new fish in QT for at least 3 to 4 weeks is a slight reassurance that the fish is healthy. Doesnt guarentee 100%, but gives more confidence.

ox :good:

BUT when you transfer the new fish to the main tank...does this not stress it and cause it to perhaps get a desease ?

its more of them already having a disease and then giving it to all your other fish, where in the hospital tank it cannot spread and you have a tank to treat any ill fish

I appreciate that BUT does transferring a fish back to the main tank stress it out enough to cause it to be weak and catch disease ?
