Hospital Or Not?

Could be markings on the face.
Golden patches can be velvet.

Feed some shelled peas.
Clear poo can mean the fish is running on empty due to not eating. Bacterial, internal parasites.
Long stringy white poo can be constipation, bacterial infection, internal parasites.

To stimulate a fish appetite just soak there food in garlic juice.

the consistency is the same, just the colour is different. i guess maybe they havent been eating much, if at all :/ So theyve possibly been rough with eachother, and as a result now have infections. Ok. So, do i need to be giving an anti-bac too? Velvet treatment?

The gold marks are on some of his peppered patches but the rest of his bodies peppered patches arent gold under torchlight.

I'll do a couple of peas for them now, and get the other half to bring some garlic home, run out.

Just found some Protozin, would that help?

Forget the parasite meds. There not flicking and rubbing, darting.

Just try and get the meds I suggested. Myxazin by waterlife. Pimafix.

ok will do, thanks. will update as soon as theres any change. thanks for all your help, its very much appreciated :good: :D

Update: they had myxazin and pimafix put in the water yesterday.
New developments: today ive noticed the female has a new whitish patch developing on her back (in front of her dorsal fin) and has developed gold cheeks, a bit of gold in her gills too. the male is still the same as yesterday.
Tonight i offered them garlic soaked peas, not interested in the peas at all, but the male had a few nibbles on crushed garlic. so i offered a tiny bit of their normal flake (tetramin) and he had s couple of mouthfuls. she kinda sniffed it but didnt do anything. on top of that shes getting close to giving birth

Some fish do have abit of gold on there cheeks and gills.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing, darting, laboured breathing, excess mucas, golden yellow spots.

Does the white patch look like it's forming a saddle shape.
Does the patch look bleached out, look fluffy like cotton wool, or dusting of talc.

hiya - internet is off at home, so borrowing someones - nightmare when you neeeeed to get onto TFF!

right the mollies have just today started to look a little less ill, and although they are thinner, they have started eating a little bloodworm and the occasional little piece of flake. so i guess thats good.
the female developed a weird white blob on one of her fins but thats gone now. She still has a few bleached out spots, but theyre fading a bit. The male has a new white patch on his belly which isnt going, but isnt getting worse. he has a couple of bleached out bits too. the bleached out bit on the top of the female between the dorsal and head was starting to look a bit like a saddle yeah, but its fading now.
theres nothing else wrong with them at all.

I have another issue now in the main tank, which i'll post about separately.

Bless them.
Thanks for the update.

Have they gone thinner due to not eating , or been off there food.

theyre off their food - the female has started eating a bit more now, so thats good. the male isnt eating really yet, but he does seem to have a little bit of appetite. female has dropped her fry too. most into daddys belly
they still have bleached out bits but they arent as bad. female where the gold cheek was, its now turned white. not sure of the significance though.
So, as they are looking much better ive put them back in the main tank. Will see how they go. But they are a lot happier.

Ok.
Soak there food in garlic juice to stimulate appetite, and boost there immune system.

right well they had 3 days in the main tank, loving it, but they started to revert to paler patches, and the males white bit on his chest got bigger. also the female who had a patch on her side which had turned from gold to white, the scales started to look like they were coming off - so theyre back in the hospital with a second course of myxazin and pimafix, with salt too. they seem better than, say , a week ago, coz theyve defo got their appetite back. i'd say its back to normal.

how many courses of that should i give though? should i try something else if it doesnt get rid of whatever this is? would it be an internal parasite causing this?

I would change meds as the myxazin not doing it's job.

Get link to a jbl med.

Are the fish showing any parasite signs like -
Flicking and rubbing,
Darting, erratic swimming.
Excess mucas.

Scroll down to 15. Jbl meds ektol and furanol 2.
The furanol 2 wipes beneifical bacteria out in the filter.

hiya :) thanks for that mate, will get some furanol and run filter in separate bucket. so i'll just have to do frequent water changes? they dont have any excess mucus. however today ive noticed the male is flicking a fair bit, the female a little, and the female now has a cloudy bulging eye (pop-eye?)

they had started to do better, yesterday was day 5 of myxazin, 2nd course. appetite is fine now.

so, will this new medication help the females pop-eye as well as the parasites they have?

edited to add- ive done a 100% water change, cleaned filter, added salt. no meds. should i keep using pimafix too or maybe melafix?

The furanol only treats bacterial infections.
If you did have a parasite the med wouldn't do anything.

Look for sores or red pin prick marks on the fish.
Check the gills and body with magifying glass.
If they start flicking alot get back to the board.
Sometimes meds can make they flick and rub.

You will need to run and airstone with the med.

Ah right ok. Well theyre both in a salty tank now, no meds, as not been able to get to the lfs. Theyre not any worse, skin or behaviour. They both still have whiteish marks on them, she still has a cloudy pop-eye, theyre both still eating fine. I guess its just a wait n see now. I think i'd rather give them a week or so for a medication rest before trying something else.
Will update with any changes.

Thanks for all your help Wilder :good:
