Hey all, i'm trying to hook up my RO/DI unit under my kitchen sink. Just wondering how to tap into the supply line here:

I believe the blue tape indicates cold water, also the dishwasher is tapped off there also. How do i tap into this? get a 3 way adapter?

For drain piping, can i just tap into the plastic drain from the dishwasher, or do i have to punch a new hole above the trap in the metal drain?

Thanks for the response Trod.

I was thinking the same thing. The only problem is that I am renting this place.

I wish they had allowed more pipe to be under the sink. I may try to cut the wood to get enough room for the needle clamp though.

Nope, can only use the needle piercing option on copper pipe. What you really need is a tee fitting to insert between the flex pipe and the cold water valve, or a second double shutoff valve...

sexy update:

For anyone with 3/8" service in the US, home depot sells a modified T that has 1 outlet at 3/8" for flex hose, and 1 outlet for 1/4" hose to a RO/DI unit.

Just ask the guy in the plumbing section.

On another note, piercing pipe before a valve is a really bad no-no!
