Honey Gourami--Is This Normal Behavior?

My male honey gourami has become obsessed w/building and guarding bubble nests. He'll build one and guard it, then it will break apart and he'll build a new one, but he doesn't seem to be interested in the female. In fact, he tends to bully and pick on her. Any chance this nest building thing will actually lead to a spawning? Anyone else noticed this behavior in their honeys?

Sounds like the male is pretty happy with his life in the tank. It can eventually lead to spawning if the female warms up to the idea. Separating the two for a few days can help, if you want them to spawn. He's probably picking on her because she's not being receptive to his courting attempts.
