One of my poor dwarf honey gouramis passed away today- He seemed perfectly well yesterday feeding with his mate. Then this morning he was cocked over slightly resting on the gravel. he perked up a bit when i fed him -his pectoral fins were going like mad so he could get to the top-but as soon as he stopped-or got worn out he floated down to the bottom. Anyhow ,home from work at lunch and hes at the surface head facing upwards motionless really. And when i got home tonight the little chap was on his side on the bottom. His mate is feeding still and messing about with the other fish so i hope he/she wont miss his friend too much . Has this happened to anyone else?

:rip:

Was the fish bloated.
Sounds like a bacterial infecton which gouramis are more prone to
Swim bladder the fish is unable to get of the bottom of the tank or top of the tank.

Other signs of bacterial infection the fish will look pale or darker in colour, laying to oneside on the bottom of the tank.

Didnt look bloated and its colours were still vibrant-odd one though. I've heard the dwarf gouramis are weakened through breeding-dont know if this is true?
