I am looking into getting some of these along with some female bettas. Who has had experiances keeping any of these together?

Anybody keep these two gouramis together?

Hi long one.....I have kept pearls and Honeys together in the past (but not together with Bettas)... with no problems, but then....

Pearls (and then basically all Gouramis) are very unpredictable and probably have a wider range of deviations in individual personallity (from the norm) than any one of the other fish species....In general... Pearls are rather timid and non extroverts, but individuals can turn out nasty... not intentionally to kill any other fish, but just overly reacting when any fish (larger or smaller) strays into their bio-zone... so, they do need watching.

What these 2 have in common however... is that they both like floating plants, so lots of those will defuse a potential confrontation.

Thanks ludwig, from what i have read i understand that all three in question are relatively shy fish and all do well in heavliy planted tanks.

My tank at the minute is pretty good for plants and various hiding places but i think i will add a little more when i add these.

Would it be wise to add the gouramis first? Then maybe when they settle, i could try adding the girls. If it doesn't work they could always be moved to the spare tank no problem.

Nope... let them all be strangers at the same time... In nature, posession is 9/10ths of the law... That'll make them all wonder ...who possesses??

Ahhhh ok will try that then, still i'll keep the spare tank on standby.
