home made sump question

Is there anybody out there who knows how to make a sump at home? To be more specific, I am looking to make a sump to filter a 75 gallon tank. I would like to include a refugium in the setup aswell. the simplest solution is probably to get an overflow box for the tank, some pipework to connect to a tank at the bottom, then a pump and pipework to return to the tank.
You can get the tank drilled, but if its full then obviously that will be difficult.

As for a refugium, you will probably need to put glass dividers in the sump, and get some bioballs, miracle mud etc.
