My male gold severums are currently locking lips. The two just started locking lips and are practicly magnetic because when I seperated them with my net they went right back to fighting. The aggressor, whom I call Red (because of his blood red eyes), is definatly getting his anal fin handed to him by Jimmy (he just looks like a Jimmy to me). I just changed water and I was wondering if that may have triggered it and the two are housed with a female in a 75 gallon. Should I return one of the sevs?

2 boys... 1 girl... I think I can figure out why they are fighting...

I've never been in your situation with Sevs so I don't know if they'll make a decision and chill out or if this will be ongoing until... there is only one male...

Let the female pick the male she prefers and then I'd start looking for a new home for the extra male. ;)

Oh yeah, it's not nice to keep those two males any longer then you need to - it doesn't go over well in the betta forum and shouldn't here either.

Well the two stopped fighting. I have two other severums in my aquarium that are too small to sex I added them when I figured out that I had 2 males and 1 female to reduce aggression, obviously that worked like a charm :S

how do u go about sexing sevs? i have a red spot and a green, they r 4 inches long
the male severums have longer pointed fins and females have round fins but even this method is questionable (though I think it works) the only way is to be sure is to have severums that have formed a pair.

I've read/been told that Male Severums will have pointier fins and much more color in their face than females. I've also been told that either of these methods are no more than guess work until the fish is 5 inches long. I have two Green Severums that are 3.5 inches and although I suspect they are both males, I would consider them too small to say for sure.

that doesnt always work.,... somtimes it does, but people say the best way is to buy a bunch and let them pair up :/

now that ya mention it..... my red spot's top fin tip isnt a tip at all.... its rounded and my green severum has a pointy top fin. i look real silly lookin at the tank w my face up 2 it lol, i think i scared em lol
