I have a small tank and it came with a light/hood, air pump, and undergravel filter. I put the undergravel filter in, with the air stone under the filter(not sure how to set up an under gravel filter- I never understood them). wel- a couple days ago I was looking at my fish and didn't see my betta. I looked all over, couldn't find him. I saw somthing move under the undergravel filter. I quickly puored some of the water out into my empty 10g(with a little room left at the top) and lifted the filter. out swims my betta.
a couple of days later I saw that he wasn't swiming well, so I put him in my 10g, just to see if it was a space isue, and I have a stump-ish thing in there. later I didn't see him in there and he was under the stump. I lifted the stump and let him out and it happened a day later. he eventually died a couple of days ago(I haven't been on in a while- skool sux) good bye mr yellow betta :-( :byebye:
but- my air pump was the one thing that kept my betta alive under the filter, and I will forever use that pump, plus it's an awsome pump.
but- good bye mr. yellow :byebye:

whoa! i dont really know what an underground filter looks like so i cant really get the visual, but it sounds crazy, im glad hes alrite.

UnderGravel Filters are just little plastic slabs you put in the bottom of the tank then put gravel on it. Hook up an airator and tadaa one of the best filtering systems ive seen in a long time

My 5 gallon had a UGF before i removed it, and Lucifer used to hide under there all the time.

i have ugfs on both my tanks and i don't understand how a fish could actuall get under there? (well not on mine anyway?
