Hmmm... planning on getting a new female guppy.

I gotta go. Post away- I'll see it all in the morning.

Annastasia I know you're just being honest, but could you tell me some stuff that's a bit more positive?

Yes, remove the danios and maybe some other fish and return them to the lfs as soon as you can. But for now they are better off staying in your tank. And for now I would do maybe a 10% water change every other day, so you don't shock your fish, and clean water is a powerful healer.

if I were you, I would just sit back, take a deep breath, and let things be for a while. Keep the lights in the room with the tank low, so you can see to the back of the tank but not much more. This will help stress. If you have aquarium salt this will help too. If not, just let things be for a while. Everything will be just fine.

Edit, forgot you had tetras. But since you don't have salt it doesn't make a difference. Good luck tomorrow, I would move the danios and maybe a few of your other fish you aren't too attached to back to the lfs. The rest might be just fine, if not, you've tried your best, and you can get things back up and running in no time. Fish keeping will teach you patience, I know i had none when I started! But you just gotta wait this one out.

Uh...sorry. What do you want me to say? I'm not going to lie to you...I'm trying to help the fish.

But I'll delete my post. :/ And all others, if you want me to.

For a newb to fish keeping you aren't in half as bad as situation as many other newb's start off with, all you need to do is;
a. Rehome the danios and increase water changes to at least 40% with dechlorinator once a week- avoid cleaning out the filter sponge more than once every 10days and when you do have to, only clean off the gunky bits in water from water changes.
b. The guppys could just be thin from stress the danios are causing, so remove them and see how things quieten down and keep a good eye out for any changes in behavior or appearance. If its just female guppys, they may have actually aborted their fry due to the stress the danios were causing them or have actually given birth but all fry got eaten by the danios or other fish, which happens alot.
The thing you don't want to do is medicate the tank unesarsarily as many medications are very stressful to fish and you don't want to cause unesarsary stress in your fish.

Okay well, the tank's actually been up for a year and a half. I'm not really a newbie, just new to the site.

Things aren't bad, actually. The danio is behaving in the breeding trap, and the little danio isn't nipping or dashing around. But I still think I should do my best to rehome them asap, because I need the breeding trap for Heaven, my pregnant molly. So as soon as the danios are off my hands I can put her in there, and will be able to observe my females.

If you can CATCH the danios, they woud be better off at the lfs. Breeding traps aren't ideal, I'd watch out with them. Good luck.

Edit, re read the post. Not really awake yet. The danio will be fine in the trap, I was talking aout your pregnant fish

I caught 'im last night with a little food as a distraction from the looming net and trap. ;) I know they're not /ideal/ but I think she will be alright for a few days. I had my wounded guppy in there for about two weeks and he was just jolly wen he got out.

I've got some support from my mom now, and even this morning, with the butt-head danio in the trap the girlies seemed a bit fatter. Not plump, but fatter. So I do not think they have parasites. The fish store wasn't open today, so I couldn't call and see if they'd take the two danios. If they will, that would be marvelous and practically all of my problems would be solved. And if they do take them- my mom has promised to take me there to hand the little buggers over. Isn't that great?

Good to hear that peeps are attempting to breed hardier guppies. I love them - they are so pretty but we have given up keeping them having bought around (between my son and me) 8 or 9 from various different lfs over a period of 3 - 4 months, only for ALL of them to die within no time at all.

They weren't bullied, water parameters were fine etc etc. But the guppies did not want to live - they simply gave up the ghost. So until we have some hardier guys around I ain't prepared to risk the suffering. :no:
