Hmmm... planning on getting a new female guppy.

(gross i know), but what color is the fish's poo- is it white/stringy in the thin ones? How often do you do water changes in your tank and how much and do you add dechlorinator?
Thinness can be parasite or internal bacteria but is more often just caused by stress and the most common cause of stress comes down to water quality, you can never say your water quality is perfect until you have tested for ammonia, nitrates and nitrites which are the most important things to moniter in tank water quality, so posting us your recent stats will help us alot diagnos your problem more accuratly  .

If they have parasites, it is usually best for the environment, not to mention ethical reasons, not to flush. These fish might get into waterways, and infect fish in major waterways.

If I were in your situation, I would put the fish you are sure have parasites in something, a tupperwear tub, a bowl, anything really, even if it is not ideal, until they die. this is the most humaine thing you can do right now I think. Then bury them, or wrap them REALLY good in paper and tape, and throw them away.

Yes, agreed, give the danios back to the store after you are sure they dont have parasites either.

Man. Okay... the tank is in good shape. I clean it about two gallons every week, and I put plenty of dechlorinator etc in.

So.. if I put them in tupperware they WILL die from lack of oxygen? Right?

I am not meaning to lecture, but I have a VERY strong opinon on this matter. PLEASE don't flush the fish, please please please! The chlorine in the bowl will burn their skin, be way too cold for their systems, and it will be a very long, painful death for them. If you are sure they have parasites and aren't just thin (they have white stringy poo, fin clamping) seperate them into anything you can. Even if you have to hide the container from yuor dad, if it is parasites they aren't going to live that long, especially in a container like what I mentioned. But it will be a better, less painful death for them, and won't contaminate your other fish.

In a tank that heavily stocked, you need to be changing at least 50% once a week, maybe more then one time a week.

And they may die from lack of oxygen, or from the parasite killing them or other factors. You can add Hydrogen Peroxide to the water to aerate it a bit. I do this in power outages, and it works well.

Uh... eurgh... that made me feel kind of sick reading about that stuff.

Their crap was fine last time I checked. The color of the food they ate.

So maybe they are just stressed? Erm... okay then... I tihnk if I removed the danios everything would be much improved...

I'll watch for a day or maybe two. Make some observations, call the fish store, see what is truly wrong. And then I'll get your guys' imput on what to do after the diagnosis.

Just saw your other post, the lack of oxygen may or may not kill them if you keep the water level low. The low water will allow more oxygen to the water. If I were you, I would take a small cup, fill it up with tank water and pour it slowly into the tupperwear several times per hour or so to help aerate the water. I am just like that, and try to save the fish. But why do you want to kill them, if it is parasites they will die soon on their own.

Oooookay then I will do my very best to not flush them alive.

And I think I will go with the removal of the danios.

This should make things much better, and I will try to do water changes more frequently.

If the poop is not white and stringy it is not parasites. Just keep the lights off in your tank, feed them like normal, and see what happens. If you have aquarium salt, put some in, and some stress coat might help you.

No way do I /want/ to kill them. Trust me, I care for them very much. Jus trecently did I stop crying when one would die. But... I don't know what else to do.
Besides removing the danios. Which you know I wil be trying.

Huzzah! No parasites. At least I don't think so. I'll have to watch for another few days.

But removing the danios is a definite move, am I correct? (As well as more frequent water changes)

Careful with salt. Cardinal tetras and Guppies are sensitive to this, so don't add too much.

Edit: Nevermind.
