it was in the floss in the pot of a plant, I think I had these fill up an undergravel plate 30 years ago… so, I’m hesitant to add it…

You should be able to get a handheld nuclear bomb for that snail. Or, if you go old school, be careful as dropping an anvil on it can break the tank glass. The same is true of gunfire, Thor's hammer strikes or road drills.

People say they aerate the gravel, I suspect with the gases released as they breed like rats and then decompose all over your tank.

If you let it go, later you can use natural controls like river otters.

I actually wanted some mts in my pool sand tank. My water is too soft & they died out. As GaryE said, almost nothing eats them although I have seen clown loaches try. Even pond snails stay small & barely reproduce for me. Just right, I like a few as part of a complete ecosystem but I don't miss out of control snails either.

MTS are livebearers, I'd just pick it out & keep an eye out for more, They tend to nocturnal.

Snails...chuck them in the garden for the birds to eat. I hate snails! I know other people love them, but I've never been a fan. Sorry

Burning is a bit extreme. Dropping it in a cup of boiling water should suffice.

Having just looked at this thread again today following going out and buying an acrylic tank, I think I may just ditch all the plants in my tank and just go with putting some veg in the bottom of it that I can pick out every day until the tank is fully cycled or I don't get anything attached to veg for at least 7 days!!
